Course Pre-requisite: Applicants must have completed a 3-Week CBIA Basic Course or an IBITA, NDTA equivalent Course. Applicants must submit a photocopy of their pre-requisite course certificate with their application.
Course Description: This is a 3-day course for physiotherapists and occupational therapists who have completed the 3-week IBITA / NDTA certified Basic Course titled Assessment and Treatment of Adults with Neurological Conditions, The Bobath Concept. The emphasis of this course will be movement analysis and further development of the clinical reasoning process and clinical handling/facilitation. This course will utilize patient workshops, clinical reasoning discussions and practical sessions; there will be no formal lectures or course participant patient treatment sessions.
Course Objectives: - To further develop the clinician’s human movement analytical skills and the impact of movement dysfunction on functional activities. - To further develop the manual handling skill of ‘facilitation’. - To further develop the ‘Thinking Skills’ of the clinician with respect to further development of the clinical reasoning process. - To enhance the ‘Critically Reflective Abilities’ of the clinician with respect to a clinical presentation.
