The Canadian Bobath Instructors Association (CBIA) is the instructor component of the B.I.G. Bobath Interest Group (B.I.G.) is a Canadian practice based subgroup of the Neurosciences Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
All CBIA instructors are neuro-rehabilitation professionals who have trained under the auspices of the International Bobath Instructors Association to teach practical evidence-based post-graduate clinical courses to registered physiotherapists and occupational therapists. CBIA is committed to the development and training of future instructors as per IBITA guidelines utilizing a modular
The purpose of the Canadian Bobath Instructors Association is to:
To develop and teach course curriculum for Bobath Courses taught in Canada consistent with evidence based practice.
To coordinate, organize and implement courses offered by CBIA across Canada. CBIA courses utilize mentorship to facilitate the learning process.
To ensure all Canadian Bobath courses taught by CBIA Instructors meet specific standards of practice and are evaluated individually.
To teach Basic and Advanced Bobath courses consistent with the bye-laws, rules and regulations of the International Bobath Instructors Training Association (hereby known as IBITA).
Facilitate personal and professional development of all CBIA Instructors.
Develop and implement a Canadian Bobath Instructor Association Instructor Training Program consistent with the rules and policies of IBITA.
Provide support and guidance in the development of research questions specific to the Bobath Concept.
