Bobath Interest Group (B.I.G.) A Canadian practice based subgroup of the Neurosciences Division (NSD) of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA).
The Canadian Bobath Instructors Association (CBIA) is the instructor component of the B.I.G.
B.I.G membership is open to occupational therapists and to physiotherapists who are Neurosciences Division members of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association The Bobath concept is a problem solving approach to the assessment and treatment of individuals with disturbances of function, movement and postural control due to a lesion of the central nervous system.
Purpose
The purpose of Bobath Interest Group (a practice based subgroup), is to:
Develop a peer support system for physiotherapists and occupational therapists practicing the Bobath Concept in Canada
Contribute to meeting post graduate clinical education needs relevant to the Bobath Concept across Canada through CBIA
Contribute to research pertaining to the Bobath Concept
Facilitate participation of Canadian PT's and OT's with an interest in the Bobath Concept in both national and international meetings related to neurological rehabilitation
Facilitate the ongoing development of the BIG website to the above purposes
Accountability
Bobath Interest Group is accountable to NSD.
The Canadian Bobath Instructors Association is operationally accountable to the Bobath Interest Group, and shall adhere to the rules and regulations of International Bobath Instructors Association
